Bronze 

In order to achieve the Champion Guitar Bronze Medal, students must be able to:

​

1) name the strings on the guitar (E, A, D, G, B, E)

​

2) read and understand TAB

​

3) understand rhythms (Ta, Ti-ti, Ta-ah, Tum, Ta-ah-ah-ah)

​

4) perform a piece from the Bronze section of the Champion Guitar book / website

Silver

In order to achieve the Champion Guitar Silver Medal, students must be able to:

​

1) understand the Musical Alphabet and work out the name of any note on the guitar

​

2) organise their left hand so they play with one finger per fret (fret 1, finger 1 - fret 2, finger 2, etc.)

​

3) improvise using a five note scale (A, C, D, E and G)

​

4) perform a piece from the Silver section of the Champion Guitar book / website

​

5) understand chord diagrams and play A, D, and E chords.

​

​

Gold

In order to achieve the Champion Guitar Gold Medal, students must be able to:

​

1) understand and read standard notation

​

2) alternate fingers on the right hand (i,m)

​

3) play accross the strings with the right hand using different fingers (p,i,m,a)

​

4) perform a piece from the Gold section of the Champion Guitar book / website

​
